Lemon and Honey Tea
Lemon is naturally cooling, very sour, and astringent. It may also help prevent infections with antiseptic, anti-microbial, and mucus-resolving properties. If you feel like you are catching a cold, have a cough, sore throat, or cramps lemon juice may ease symptoms.
Lemon helps you digest high-fat/protein diets. This is usually needed after the winter season. Lemon can help increase the production of bile, cleanse the liver and blood, promote weight loss, reduce high blood sugar, and alleviate flatulence and indigestion. Use as a gentle daily detox in the spring and summer.
Do not use if you have excess stomach acid or ulcers or have a pale tongue.
Honey harmonizes the liver, eliminates toxins, and may relieve pain. For thousands of years, honey has been used for its medicinal benefits.
Raw vs. Pasteurized Honey
Raw honey is ideal. Raw helps dry mucus and those with damp conditions such as edema and excess weight. Pasteurized, processed, and heated honey should not be used for those with mucus. Medicinal enzymes are lost when honey is heated over 160 degrees. Pasteurized honey may treat dry, hoarse throat or cough. Both raw and pasteurized cancer sores, high blood pressure, and constipation.
